Wife and I just got back from South Padre! Sorry there was no time to pass out the invites, it was a quickie! I had to go down to the Valley to cut trees and
repair my Mom's tree damaged roof. Two days of that was plenty so on Wednesday we started back to Austin via So. Padre (any excuse to go to the COB). The
causeway had opened the day before and alot of places were open for business as usual. We bought supplies for the day and went up 14 miles from entrance#6. It
was unbelievable how flat and hard the sand was as compared to when it's been churned up by traffic. We must have been only the fourth or fifth vehicle up
that far since the hurricane judging from the tire tracks. Wished I had a nickle for every plastice bottle washed up by the hurricane, I'd retire today
instead of in October! Saw only four other vehicles pass us all day and no other nekkids but us two. The water was cool and the waves were 1 to 2 footers. Got
plenty of sun but didn't fish this time. We left the COB in time to catch a shower at the now roofless bathroom at entrance #1 and hit the road for home.
We hope to go back in a few weeks and may stay overnight on the beach this time. I really do need to retire so I can spend more time between there, Hippie
Hollow and our cabin at the naked rv park in Louisiana! We hate clothes too!

Making it down to SPI for the first time this coming weekend 8/10/08, can you tell me how far from entrance #6 it is to the Mansfield Jetties. And most of
all, could you share where the best fishing spot would be in the nude part of the beach.

As you know from my posts we go too the northern part of the island = National Sea Shore= 4+4 part =It is closer for you and we like it better even though
there is no (official) nude beach =It is almost abandond from the 17mi ( our hang out), down too close too the Mansfield Cut = the cut is usually covered with

I appreciate the info Jim, week feels like it is going so slow, can't wait till Sunday gets here. I should reach the beach by 5 at the latest, plan on fishing some of the night and all day Monday till about 5'ish. By the way, where would you recommend getting bait, just looking for some dead shrimp. |

Hey Triple Lotion,
Wish we could join you for some fishing, heck we just might! The cut is approx. 32 miles fom entrance six and anywhere from 10.5 miles up is ok for nudity according to the Cameron county park police but as he said to be REALLY safe go into Willacy county which is about the 16 mile marker. We've been naked all over the island from 10.5 on up and have never had any complaints (some snoddy noses up in the air from some ol' ladies that like to pretend that they don't want to look at naked people but their husbands always smile and wave). We were locked out of our Trooper naked once and lots of clothed people stopped to offer help! The forecast for this week is for very small waves and hardly any swells from the storm. Look at the surf forecast at:www.spadre.com/surfcam.htm. Good luck and keep posting just in case we do go down there, we'll be in the red Trooper. |

Lotion, Forgot about the bait. Get it on the island to the left of the blvd. (bayside) there's several bait stores in-between the bars and apartments with
dead shrimp, whiting and other stuff.

Thanks T.N.Ds, I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate all the information y'all keep given me, takes out some of the worries that always
accompany these long road trips. I hope y'all do come by, I get some extra shrimp for ya, would be nice to fish with others. Just look for the camo jeep
that's in the picture, but it is going Topless as well, lol.

I will be in San Antonio on Sunday the 24th for the Black Sabbeth / Heaven and Hell tour,but coming back home after the concert. Fishing the next day sounds
like a great way to relax afterwards. Will look for you between the 15 and 20 markers.

Hey guys, missed y'all this last weekend. The beach was awesome, was able to drive down at 45 mph, though there were a few rough spots, which I just
powered through, not using the 4wheel even once. Went down 17 miles like you suggested, but the wind was so strong, it kept the water murkey, resulting in
catching only Hard Heads and small whiting. Did see some other nudist in this area, enjoying the weather as well, but being without Christy, thought it best
to just give a freindly wave and pass them by.. Even though the Fishing was Sh*t, the weather, beach and relaxation I got was Awesome. Would like to get down
there at least once a quarter or so.

The best laid plans..... Our son and a buddy went out for a round of golf and I get a call from the emergency room! He thought he had broken his ankle but he
sprained it really bad whe he rolled it at the golf course. Anyway we had to stay close cause they did put it in a boot so he was HELPLESS!! Always something.
He's ok now but we need to reschedule our trip south, maybe week or two after Labor Day.
I do plan to go to Hippie Hollow tomorrow (Friday) and get some sun or rain or both, I don't care as long as I don't have to wear clothes. Lake Travis is 20 feet down from full but it's still big, clear, deep and cold (about three feet below the surface). Maybe you and Christy can make it up here one day and we'll go out to the Hollow, always lot's to see!! I'll post our next trip to the COB when we decide it's time to PADRE!! |
