Returned a week ago from two days at the COB! My wife and I were there Good Friday and again on Palm Sunday. The wind was very high both days but the
temperature was ok till about 5ish then it got a little nippy cause of the wind never slacking up. The water was really rough and fishing on Friday was bad,
lost bait fish to something but didn't catch anything and didn't even try on Sunday. The sand was all churned up and really soft in many places, had to
drive in the water several times even with my 4 x 4. Used 4 low gear several times but mostly in 4 high. Did see a couple of front wheel drive sedans all the
way to the 16 mile marker (measuring from entrance 6) and they kept going further still! People were scarce that far up on Friday but more numerous on Sunday.
We parked and stayed till almost 7 each time. On Sunday, traffic on the beach near entrance 6 was ridiculous. The tide was high so everybody was jammed on a
very narrow area between the water and the sugar sand, saw many cars and trucks stuck cause there was no room to build up speed to pass or to turn around. I
would really avoid going back on a Sunday from now on cause of the crowds at entrance 5 and 6. The were still backed up the boulevard trying to come in to the
beach at 7 pm! All in all we had a great time once we got to the COB and parked. We even gave the Coast Guard helicopter a bit of a live show! Well, we
couldn't hear them coming cause of the wind till it was to late to do anything but smile and wave, they were close enough we could see their smiles and
their salutes.... after all at least part of me was at attention!
