I don't have time to drive down there, so I'll have to rent. It will be a full size S.U.V. of some kind...they always surprize me
I hope you're right about the weather. The forecasts I'm seeing call for a cold front late Thursday, and highs of 69 Friday, 71 Saturday.
Maybe that's warmer on the Islands than I think?
I hope I don't come down there to get warm, and...

You must be one of those "snowbirds" I keep hearing about!
I envy you an awful lot.
My wife and I would really like to retire and live that kind of life, or just move down there permanantly...
Still like about 8 to 10 years before we could even hope to make it a reality.
I hope that area isn't "booming" at that time, as we enjoy the solitude of the island, if you know what I mean.

Hi Brown,
The weather in Mi is very nice in the spring & summer. The swiming season is from about mid May to early September. That would also be prime time for nudity. i come to Port Isabel in mid Oct & go home in early May.

I understand all about the "running off" thing. I just about had to fight a guy the last time we were there, and I'm getting a little long in the tooth for that sort of thing. I really like the park though, if they could just find a way to control the problem children we would go back.

What about you and your significant other? Ever been down to the caribbean?

JUST TO SHOW OFF MY GEOGRAPHICAL IGNORANCE, ISN'T IT A LITTLE COLD IN MICHIGAN FOR THAT SORTA THING!

MUST BE NICE WEATHER AT LEAST SOME OF THE TIME...

YOU SHOULD REALLY TRY THE CARIBBEAN SOMETIME, THERE ARE SOME OUTSTANDING NUDE OR CLOTHING OPTIONAL RESORTS THERE, AND SOME OF THE NICEST PEOPLE AROUND.

AND IT YOU'RE EVER IN THE DALLAS AREA, I CAN RECOMMEND THE CHAPARRAL RESORT BED AND BREAKFAST FOR A WEEKEND (OR WEEKLONG) GETAWAY.

Brownallover,

I have visted several clubs in the midwest. I belong to very nice one in Michigan called Turtle Lake Resort.
So far I haven't been to the Caribbean or Hippie Hollow but I would like to try both some time.

No, never have.
You're right about the gawkers at Hippie Hollow, I've had to run several off that got too close for my wife's comfort but by the same token we have met some wonderful people there and some are now lifelong friends of ours.

The wife and I also enjoy going nude to Mexico and Jamaica, usually in the Spring and Summer.
We try to avoid the hurricaines in the Fall.
We too have been to Hippie Hollow in Austin several times.
It's a beautiful place and I like the area, but we may not go back.
Just too many strange individuals walking around the park.
And that's a real shame, cause it could be a really special place.
Do you ever travel to the Caribbean?

Thanks for the info. It was really helpful.
I wonder what the weather will be like around the 7th of march...
I know the average is around 75 degrees, according to THE WEATHER CHANNEL.
It seems like 75 there is warmer than 75 where I am.
I can't wait to get down there, cause I really need a break from work.
If you get out to the "wild part of the island" on the 7th or 8th, stop by and say howdy.
We'll probably be shelling along that area...

My wife Diana and I own a cabin at the only nudist park in the New Orleans area but really enjoy the COB since it's only 6 hours drive from us here in Texas (and my mom lives an hour away from South Padre). We've been doing post Katrina work in N.O. for the last two and a half years, that's how we found the nudist park! We also enjoy Hippie Hollow, the clothing optional county park on Lake Travis right outside of Austin (we're 30 minutes away). Check it out next time you come...

I was wondering how many of the beach users on this fourm also go to nudist resorts or clubs ?
I use SPI beach in the winter & belong to nudest resort club in the summer back in Michigan.

The spring break crowd was smaller that usual last year, but they are still loud and stay up late every night. Getting in and out of the island needs to be done early in the morning because traffic backs up for hours later in the day, expecially on weekends.
They usually stay away from the COB and that will be about the only quite spot in the area, and yes, they will be staying at all hotels at the island.
